Anyone familiar with +Rafael Chandler's Teratic Tome will be aware of his David Cronenberg-meets-H.P. Lovecraft-meets John Carpenter-like ability to conjure the most twisted, horrific and imaginative creatures you could ever want to expose your players to.
Rafael is now crafting a second volume of beasts, Lusus Naturae ("Freaks of Nature"), which he says will "break the bodies and hearts of your player characters", adding "if you like horror in your old-school gaming, then you'll enjoy this bestiary."
He is funding this enterprise through Kickstarter, with the aim of producing a 160-page hardback featuring around 100 new monsters. Statistics will follow the Lamentations of the Flame Princess system, thus making them easily adaptable to any old school gaming system.
The campaign, which began yesterday and runs until April 12, is already well on its way towards its initial goal of $6,660.
Check out Lusus Naturae's fundraising site to read a lot more about the design and contents of the book and discover the incentives available for backing this project (for instance, you can even be immortalised on the front cover for a pledge of $666!).
