io9 has a fantastic portfolio of photographs of New York slum-life during the time the Victorian sci-fi RPG is set. The pictures come from the famous How the Other Half Lives: Studies Among the Tenements of New York photojournalism exposé by Jacob Riis (published in 1890).
Elsewhere online, and a bit less depressing and more tongue-in-cheek, we have the Pompous British Name Generator - a perfect tool for creating lists of names for player- and non-player characters from the upper classes (up to a 100 at a time!).
