|My last Comic Book Café haul...|
After 14 months of trading, the "best shop in Tunbridge Wells" closed its doors for the last time today.
The Comic Book Café simply wasn't getting the passing traffic it needed to justify staying open. As I understand it, some of the comic book stock will go next door to Moviebilia (the movie memorabilia store), where it will be sold on Stan's behalf.
For the last week or so, Stan has been running a half-price sale to shift merchandise and I picked up a run of late 1980's Detective Comics (written by Alan Grant and illustrated by Norm Breyfogle) as well as a Gotham City Police Department mug (merchandising for the Arkham Origins console game) this afternoon.
Rachel and I shall mourn the passing of the Comic Book Café, but Stan is continuing to do shows and conventions and we will stay in touch via Facebook (he told us about an open air convention in Kent during the summer that we'd be able to take Alice to, which is quite an exciting prospect).
