|Alice with her new toy: Mousey|
At the end of last week a crucial widget in our Sky+ HD box blew (or stopped working anyway). Rachel's dad came and took a look at its yesterday and he couldn't fix it - and if he couldn't fix it then there's no hope!
This all happened within days of me refusing to take Sky up on their offer of insurance... coincidence? Or conspiracy??? I'll let you be the judge of that!
Anyway, I investigated getting a replacement and it turns out it's actually £50 cheaper to upgrade to their new two terabyte box (of course, there's the small £60 installation fee!)
There goes my dreams of not putting too much strain on my credit card this month.
Deciding that if I was in for a penny and all that, I also decided now was as good a time as any to order a replacement printer/scanner (via Amazon) as the current one has given up the ghost and a printer is useful for gaming purposes and the scanner is useful for producing entertaining illustrations for this blog.
And it's only the ninth of the month.
On a more positive note, Rachel and I got Alice a new toy (pictured, with her, above) from Pets At Home. Alice actually picked Mousey out herself, so who were we to refuse her? Also I rather thought that once she'd pulled it off the shelf it probably wasn't the done thing to just put it back and walk away.
Since then Rachel's come down with a stinker of a cold and so, as I write this, she's curled up in front of the TV with Alice (who I've just taken for a walk) waiting for the televisual delight that is Mel & Sue followed by Pointless.
