Once again, Saturday evenings have become a cultural waste-ground for TV entertainment and so Rachel and I have returned to our sporadic 'film night' schedule.
Over the last month or so, we have watched some recent classics - The Theory Of Everything, The Imitation Game and Shaun The Sheep - but this week I went for something a bit different...
Hollywood Chainsaw Hookers.
Released on Blu-Ray for the first time in March, I jumped on this as another throwback to my days at university.
A low-budget, schlock horror of trashy Grand Guignol, full of boobs and blood, it had been a cornerstone of my final dissertation (for my Scriptwriting For Film & Television degree course back in 1998):
"Is That A Chainsaw In Your Pocket Or Are You Just Pleased To See Me? - Exploring the strong female role models in the chainsaw films of Gunnar Hansen"
|First page of my dissertation|
Needless to say, Rachel was rather "surprised" by Hollywood Chainsaw Hookers, taking to Facebook afterwards to declare: "I can't believe this is an actual film. I'm almost speechless!"
She also made it quite clear that next week we would be watching her choice of movie.
