Not only is today the anniversary of Alice's arrival in our lives and the 125th 'birthday' of HP Lovecraft, but it was pointed out to me this evening that it's also the seventh anniversary of the first Tuesday Knights' games session.
This is (some of) what I wrote afterwards, in 2008:
It's difficult to put into words the sheer elation I feel, having finished the first session of our new Castles & Crusades campaign - Tekralh.Of course, I wish we'd kept that campaign going - seven years would have been very impressive and maybe, just maybe, some of the characters might have survived and made it to second level.
This is the first role-playing game I've actually run for over a decade, and - as I've said before - I've bottled out of running games several times since I came out of hospital in 2005 and have been very anxious about whether my health (both physically and mentally) would be up to the challenge.
There was a lot of preparation (not all of which came into use this time round), but it all seemed to go very well. Everyone - Nick, Clare and Pete - appeared to enjoy the evening and all threw themselves into the adventure with great gusto.
Nevertheless, I'm very pleased with how our current (Heroes & Other Worlds) campaign - The Chronicles Of Cidri is shaping up.
A massive thank you to members of The Tuesday Knights - past, present and future - namely Peter, Steve, Nicholas, Clare Kevin, Simon, Meredith and Erica.
And, of course, our hostess with the mostess, my gorgeous wife, Rachel. She may not understand what's going on, but she knows it makes me happy and is always there, in my darkness moments, to encourage me to play on!
