Rachel and I took Alice to her second castle in two days.
Chiddingstone Castle (again, about a 20 minute drive from Tonbridge), was hosting a Summer Vintage Fair today, so we rolled up about noon.
It was a lovely day and while there was a field of stalls selling a mixture of handmade crafts and antiques, the main draw was the regular 20-minute sets by The Polka Dots, a 40s swing trio that we've seen at a number of events over the years.

They performed a mixture of period songs and modern numbers remixed with a swing vibe.
Supporting The Polka Dots were the Medway Lindy Hoppers, dancing to both the Polka Dots' songs and records.

I think Alice would have joined in if we'd let her, she was very fascinated by the dancers.
There were also a lot of other people there with dogs, so Alice had a great time making friends and getting cuddles from strangers.
The only real downside of the day was presence of large numbers of wasps, who were taking great delight in dive bombing picnickers and passers-by alike. I heard a number of people bemoaning stings and Rachel had a couple of close calls (I think the wasps were rather taken with her flowery dress).
|We didn't take many pictures of Alice today, but if you want to see a few more, as usual, |
they can be found on her Facebook page!
