We returned to Hever Castle today to see the jousting, which is on every weekend throughout the month.
Although there was no dedicated dog event this weekend, there were still plenty of lovely dogs for Alice to meet, and very friendly owners for us to chat with.
Having got there rather early (I'd failed to check when the actual jousting started), we had a picnic and a gentle wander around the grounds.
Alice did get hissed at by an enormous swan at one point, but it didn't seem to bother the pup too much.
Rachel and I have now purchased a year's pass each to the gardens, as it's obvious we'll be back having realised Hever Castle is only 10 miles from door-to-portcullis, a mere 20-minute drive through country lanes, to an amazingly dog-friendly venue.
The jousting itself was as fake as wrestling (rather than a real blood'n'guts, Knights Of Mayhem event) but it was still entertaining, silly-fun ... until the heavens opened and everyone stampeded for shelter.
Rachel took a number of pictures, which I've split into two albums on Facebook - one is for pictures of the venue and the jousting, while the other is on Alice's page and is pictures of her (and me)!
