It's hard to believe, given how much she has turned our lives around (and upside down), that Alice has only been part of our lives for a year - as of this evening.
And just look at how much she has grown in that time. She's still really a tiddler, but Rachel and I reckon she's probably full grown for her breed (Havanese).
After a year, there's still something magical about when we take her out for walks and see people smiling at her, or commenting among themselves about how cute she is. She's an honest-to-goodness ray of sunshine, still as hyper and full of love as the day we got her.
In many ways it all seems so fast. Two years ago, Rachel and I were watching Crufts and she began to win me round to the idea of getting a dog, then it was last August and we were driving to Surrey to look at a litter of Havanese puppies!
Even people who have professed a dislike of dogs in the past (including Rachel's parents) have been won round by Alice's charm.
Soon after Alice came into our lives, Rachel and I set up a Facebook page for her, so our own Facebook pages (and this blog) weren't full of pictures of our photogenic puppy.
If you like adorable puppy pictures then that's the place to be!
