I know the Ubiquity system wasn't the first to use hero points/fate points/action points etc but there's still something rather elegant about its use of poker chips as Style Points (played to boost dice rolls in the hero's favour) that I find appealing.
The arrival of a tube of Style Point poker chips in my Revelations of Mars Kickstarter reward package the other day was the nudge I needed to invest in a plastic storage case for the chips.
This also gave me somewhere to put the various collectible chips I'd picked up in a pound store in Tonbridge many years ago (knowing that one day they'd be useful for gaming!)
Although there were some sci-fi and generic superhero ones, the bulk have a suitably pulp theme to them (e.g. King Kong, classic cinematic monsters, mobsters, famous inventors etc) which means they'll fit right in with the 1930's vibe of my proposed Tales Of The Gold Monkey/Hollow Earth Expedition setting.
