Watching The Great British Bake Off the other week, I happened to remark to Rachel that I quite fancied the idea of baking bread.
A few days later, lo and behold, Paul Hollywood's How To Bake turns up on the doorstep - courtesy of my wonderfully supportive wife.
On Saturday we went to Sainsbury's to buy ingredients and then I set about making a simple, white bread loaf.
And I have to say I surprised myself with how well it turned out. Especially considering I've never baked anything from scratch before (I wasn't allowed in the kitchen growing up in case I "made a mess") I was beyond excited by the finished product.
That it was edible was a good start, but it was actually really tasty.
Those who know me on Facebook will have already seen these pictures - and some commentary - but I'm still bathing in the glow of the satisfaction of a job well done.
