Have you always wanted to write Star Trek fan fiction and fancy seeing your original work be published in a collection celebrating the show's 50th anniversary?
Simon & Schuster has launched its Star Trek: Strange New Worlds fan fiction contest for those wish to craft their own adventures for Kirk, Spock, Uhura, Janeway, Sisko, Archer etc
Sadly only open to residents of the United States, entries of between 7,500 and 10,000 words are being invited for submission before the January 15, 2016 deadline.
One of the key requirements is that the story pertains to the original Star Trek Universe:
Stories must focus on past and present Star Trek main characters or familiar guest characters from the live-action TV series or the first ten feature films released prior to 2009.Star Trek: Strange New Worlds was a yearly collection of Trek short stories published between 1998 and 2007, with the amateur writers' works chosen via an open submissions process.
This new contest for 2106 will see 10 grand prize winners having their stories published in print and eBook formats as part of an all-new and official anthology from Simon & Schuster. Additionally, the two first prize winners will receive a free self-publishing package from Archway Publishing, worth almost $5,000!
