|My Workstation: Before The Carnage|
In honour of the final of The Great British Bake Off this evening, I had my first go at making something other than bread... and opted for one of my favourites: scones.
As ever I did my best to follow Paul Hollywood's recipe, but "baking" and I had a bit of a falling out during this. There was more mess than I was happy with, dough was sticking to everything no matter how much flour I heaped on it, the rolling pin was malfunctioning, the shaping thingamabob wasn't cutting neatly etc
We were teetering on the brink of a '#bingate', but I persevered and decided to go my own way.
And I have to say - all swearing aside - I'm surprised and impressed with the scones that eventually came out of the oven.
Although they only bear a passing resemblance to the pictures in Paul Hollywood's book, they still look rather tasty!
Rachel and I haven't tried them yet though as we're saving them to snack on during Bake Off in a couple of hours.
PS. I won't be applying for the 2016 Great British Bake Off.
