|The Acrobatic Flea meets Spider-Man...|
I turned 49 this week and, like any middle-aged man, celebrated by hanging out with Spider-Man, Han Solo, Princess Leia and a host of celebrities... at Madame Tussauds in London.
Arranged by my darling wife, Rachel, we traveled up to London, had lunch at Nando's (my choice) and then visited the world famous wax works.
My primary focus was the new Star Wars exhibit and the Marvel Comics' section that's been there for a while, but as the place is set up like Ikea you had to wander through all the other galleries first.
And I was genuinely surprised at how awesome the whole experience was. I hadn't realised it would be so interactive and that you are actually encouraged to sidle up to the 'celebrities' and pose for photographs.
I was on such an adrenaline high after the Star Wars section that I dragged Rachel round the corner to 221b Baker Street so we could also visit the Sherlock Holmes Museum there.
A wonderful recreation of a Victorian house, full of incredible minutiae, geared towards devoted readers of the original fiction.
Although the gift shop - understandably - catered for the more recent televisual outings of their hero, to get the most out of 221b Baker Street you needed to have a working knowledge of Conan Doyle's books.
Which neither of us did!
But nevertheless, it was all very evocative of the period and a fine end to our day in London.
You can see all Rachel's pictures of the day in these Facebook albums:
