Last week's Fan Fiction set the bar so high for Supernatural brilliance that this week's Ask Jeeves wisely didn't try to top it and instead took an atypical approach to the standard 'monster-of-the-week' story.
Scratching around for a lead on a case, the Winchester brothers learn that Bobby Singer has been named as a beneficiary in the will of heiress Bunny Lacroix (Wendy Abbott).
Intrigued the boys go to check this out and find themselves at the home of the late Bunny Lacroix, surrounded by her money-grubbing relatives.
And then the bodies start dropping and people are claiming they've seen the ghosts of Bunny and her husband!
Sam and Dean investigate and quickly realise that the problem is something other an angry spirit or two.
A cracking little self-contained story, Ask Jeeves is certainly played for laughs, but doesn't scrimp on the shock and gore.
Although it takes quite an infodump to explain Bobby's connection to this case, Eric Charmelo and Nicole Snyder's script does a grand job of casting the Winchesters as the uncomfortable fishes-out-of-water in this aristocratic environment populated by predatory cougars, preppy trust-fund brats, and their loyal staff.
Thankfully, for this story, the season's overarching issue with Dean and the lingering influence of the Mark of Cain is only really touched upon in the final few scenes.
