The Tuesday Knights' monthly slice of adventuring is all wrapped up for this year and for a while I've been saying that I aim to bring our current campaign - Chronicles Of Cidri - to a conclusion by my 50th birthday.
So, what does the future hold?
As I've said before, one option is simply to begin a new arc in the current campaign. I'm torn because our games of Heroes & Other Worlds are a lot of fun and seem to suit our monthly schedule of two-and-half-hour games sessions, but I'll confess I've been getting a bit twitchy for a change of setting. That's, of course, the traditional gamer ADHD kicking in... so many games, so little time!
Current options that I can see in my crystal ball are:
- MONSTER-HUNTING - using either Supernatural, Army Of Darkness or Leagues of Adventure. The first two would mean contemporary settings, while Leagues Of Adventure defaults to Victorian London. Both of these environments appeal to me.
- SUPERHEROES - using Icons. As with the Monster-Hunting option this would give me a chance to revive my 'Knight City' setting. As with the Dr Who idea below, I'm not entirely convinced - however much I personally love the genre - that the Tuesday Knights' preferred gaming style fits the superhero mindset that I'd want to run.
- DOCTOR WHO - using the Doctor Who RPG (formerly known as Adventures In Time And Space), either going pure Time Lord + companions or an (initially) Earth-based UNIT squad. The trouble I see with this idea is that, at heart, the Tuesday Knights love their hack'n'slash, kicking down doors, killing monsters and taking their stuff, which is the total antithesis of the Doctor Who oeuvre.
There's also a longshot: the official John Carter (of Mars) RPG from Modiphius.
However, I'm not even sure if that will be available next year as we haven't heard anything on this game, bar the initial announcement, yet.
