Einstein said that nothing can travel faster than the speed of light. In the near future, a probe does just that. On Earth, the crew of the oceanographic research vessel Venus begin to experience the results: a passing brigantine spews murder from its hold; strange creatures roam the seas, and the crew are shocked to learn that their chief scientist is dead: none more so than the Chief Scientist himself. Only a passing American ship can help, though it may not be from America...The Light of September is a new podcast drama from the team behind the superb Minister Of Chance series, featuring an all-star cast, full Foley sound effects and a spectacular musical soundtrack.
The incredible cast includes Laura Cayouette (Django Unchained); Tamsin Greig (Episodes); Thorbjørn Harr (Vikings); Sylvester McCoy (Doctor Who, The Hobbit); Tuppence Middleton (Dickensian, War & Peace); Robert Picardo (Star Trek: Voyager); Karim Saleh (Iron Man 3); Heida Reed (Poldark); George Blagden (Versailles); Jed Brophy (The Hobbit); and David Blue (Ugly Betty).
The first ten-minute episode of the "audio-movie" will be released on February 4, and will be funded by a unique twist on the traditional crowdfunding model. As each episode is released, a one-week campaign will begin to raise £2,000 to fund the next episode. If that target is reached, the episode will be released and a new one-week campaign will begin for a total of ten weeks.
In return for donations, fans can choose from a range of rewards including: naming a character; speaking a line; visiting the studio; t-shirts, hats, keyrings and badges; sponsoring scripts and even having their name read out in the credits by the actors.
