Podcasts come and go in my feed as my fickle fandoms change, or I devote more time to listening to audio books, or for more mundane reasons, but one that has remained a fixture on my iPod for the better part of two years is Jonathan Merrifield's weekly half-hour bursts of Archie Comics news.
The Riverdale Podcast drops every Saturday, with a review of superfan Jonathan's book of the week, discussions of Archie-verse news (from teen hijinks with Archie, Betty, Veronica, Jughead & co, and gritty crime-fighting from Black Hood to the superheroics of The Shield and all-out zombie horror of Afterlife with Archie or the Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina, via Sonic The Hedgehog and Mega Man), through previews of upcoming and current releases, to occasional reviews of older comics and answering listeners' emails or voicemails.
The podcast has been running for four years (and over 200 episodes), and after a year as the official podcast of Archie Comics, the Riverdale Podcast has reverted to a "by-the-fans-for-the-fans" podcast, which means Jonathan now has to foot the running costs for the show.
Thus he has turned to Patreon to seek funding. If you're a fan of Jonathan's podcast or Archie Comics' output, consider signing up to the Patreon campaign to show your support.
