Daredevil: Regrets Only
Kicking off with a short, but sweet, dust-up between a handful of Yakuza minions (with a definite Crazy 88 feel to them) and Elektra and Daredevil, Regrets Only paired the former lovers for a sub-plot involving the infiltration of a Roxxon office to steal a ledger full of details of criminal enterprises.
Elsewhere, the firm of Nelson & Murdoch is persuaded by Karen (after meeting the appointed public defender Christopher Roth - a cameo from Eureka's Neil Grayson) to take on the defence of Frank Castle, much to the potentially-career-ending annoyance of DA Samantha Reyes. The understanding being that Frank would plead guilty and all Foggy had to do was get him the best plea bargain possible.
Unfortunately, Frank has a change of heart.
Karen has an extended heart-to-heart with the former sniper, learning more details about his "origin story" and gaining some insight into his hatred for the city's gangs.
But there's clearly more at work here, beyond even Reyes' desire to bring down the Hell's Kitchen vigilantes, and it's going to be interesting to see what's been extrapolated from the character's comic book backstory.
Secured to a hospital bed, Frank is lit so his eyes look sunken, like he's wearing some kind of Halloween skull mask... do you see where they're going with this?
Elektra's rough edges from the last episode are also smoothed down somewhat in Regrets Only and, while I'm still no fan, and I'm beginning to appreciate the character more. She's currently coming across as a thrill-seeker more than anything, but her particular interest in Roxxon and its links to the Yakuza are presumably part of a bigger story.
