Opening with a glimpse of three months "in the future" (suggesting that Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. is heading into space at some point), the show then shifts to Colombia and introduces us to a new Inhuman, Elena 'Yo-Yo' Rodriguez (Natalia Cordova-Buckley), a short-distance speedster who always returns to the point she took off from.
While some of Coulson's team are dispatched to investigate Yo-Yo's apparent crimes, Phil has a clandestine meeting with the President of The United States, Ellis (William Sadler), to discuss the future of S.H.I.E.L.D.
They agree that Coulson's organisation will remain in the shadows (after the whole "helicarriers falling from the sky" fiasco in Captain America: The Winter Solider), with the ATCU remaining as the President's public face for dealing with the rise of the Inhumans.
However, Ellis says he will appoint a new head of the organisation , who will answer to Coulson. We find out who at the end of the episode and it's the return of a fan-favourite foil for Phil!
Meanwhile, Coulson is determined to take the battle to Gideon Malick, but has no leads until he hits on the idea of using the memory probe machine - that was used on him a couple of times - to get in the head of the comatose Werner von Strucker (Spencer Treat Clark).
On the Hydra side of the episode, we get more insight into why the 'alien god' from Maveth was so weak, and easily defeated, now that it has taken the form of Grant Ward and is being nurtured by Malick.
Bouncing Back - referring to everything from the show returning after its winter hiatus (in the States) and Yo-Yo's powers to Hydra and S.H.I.E.L.D. both continuing to evolve in light of recent developments - was a great blend of political string-pulling machinations and full-on superpowered fisticuffs.
Various emotional sub-plots - such as the relationships between Lincoln and Daisy and, more importantly, Fitz and Simmons - are coming along nicely.
I'm particularly interested to see where the Fitz-Simmons dynamic goes next, whether this is the start of a great romance or if they've slipped back into the friendzone again (even after all they've been through).
There's also seeds planted for a relationship between Mack and Yo-Yo, so let's hope we get to see more of her.
