For all my moaning earlier in the year about the delayed start of Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. over here in the UK, it looks as though we're almost caught-up as Maveth was the mid-season finale in the States and next week's episode - Bouncing Back - was the first of the second-half of the season, which aired on March 8.
Maveth was a continuation of Closure with Fitz as Ward's prisoner on the desolate alien planet, and Coulson there as well, hoping to finally put an end to Ward.
Meanwhile, back on Earth, the rest of S.H.I.E.L.D. is focussed on infiltrating the Hydra base, freeing Simmons, and ensuring that the mythical "alien god" Ward is pursuing isn't allowed back through the portal.
An action-packed episode, with some interesting revelations about the alien world, Maveth, but the big anti-climax was the revelation of the 'first Inhuman', who was not only a tad predictable but also decidedly underwhelming after all the foreshadowing.
Given that the creature supposedly laid waste to an entire world, I was rather surprised that Fitz seemed able to take it in a fist fight!
That said, I don't think we've seen its full potential and the episode's coda certainly posed more questions than it answered.
And, yes, I did get something in the my eye during the inevitable Fitz-Simmons reunion. Don't judge me!
Next Time:
It was weak from hunger. Oh so hungry.
