Two years ago today a little furry ball of energy came into our lives and turned everything upside down and inside out.
I can't believe it's only 24 months since Rachel and I drove to Surrey to collect Alice, our Havenese.
Now fully-grown, Alice still has the energy of a puppy and the ability to bring a smile to most people's faces.
It remains one of the greatest joys in my life to take her out and see strangers start grinning when she bounds into view. I love the fact that she attracts so much positive attention and good will.
She is the ultimate ice breaker. Thanks to Alice I've spoken to more friendly people, outside of my home, in the last two years than in the previous eight (since my hospitalisation).
To be honest, the puppy (she will always be a puppy to us) can be quite demanding. She's a proper pampered princess who knows if she turns up the cute she'll get whatever she wants... probably hand-delivered to wherever she has decided to make her throne at that juncture.
But how can you say 'no' to that face?
If pictures of cute little dogs are your thing then Rachel and I set up a Facebook page for Alice soon after we got her, so our own Facebook pages (and this blog) weren't constantly awash with pictures of our adorable puppy.
