Just a day after the campaign was launched, the Kickstarter to fund publication of the Third Edition of the finest superhero RPG, Villains & Vigilantes, is well on the way towards hitting its initial goal of $18,000 by September 19.
Funding has already passed the 60 per cent mark.
I've spoken many, many times before on HeroPress about how pivotal Villains & Vigilantes has been to the development of this blog, and my own geeky and gaming growth. And I'm sure I'll reference it again as this campaign progresses. Without V&V, there would be no Acrobatic Flea, no HeroPress...
Created by Jack Herman and Jeff Dee, and originally published in 1979, Villains & Vigilantes was the world's first complete superhero role-playing game.
A revised edition (2.0) was published in 1982, and tweaked in 2010 for edition 2.1.
This Kickstarter will see the arrival of Villains and Vigilantes 3.0: The Mighty Protectors RPG, bringing the games system right up to date for both its legions of loyal fans and newcomers.
On the campaign's Kickstarter page, co-creator Jeff Dee explains: "The new 'third edition' has a name, and not just a number: it’s called Mighty Protectors after the player group from the very first V&V campaign in our official setting – the Mighty Protectors Multiverse."
The best has just got better. This upcoming edition promises a streamlined and expanded revision of the V&V rules, as well as an introduction to the Mighty Protectors Multiverse, and all-new artwork.
