This weekend, Rachel, Alice and I attended our second Paws In The Park, the humongous dog show at the County Showground in Detling.
As with last year, the sensory overload and sheer number of different dogs of all shapes and sizes was slightly overwhelming for young Alice (and me, it has to be said), but it's also a fantastic day out for all of us.
Every group of people attending had their own dog (or dogs), so there was a lot of coo-ing, both from us and other people admiring Alice, as we went round. Given that before we got Alice I really wasn't bothered by dogs (I was raised a cat person), my transformation to a proud doggy-daddy has been nothing short of miraculous.
Alice, as ever, was lavished with gifts - the usual selection of edible treats, as well as a coat that works perfectly with her harness (and should help keep her dryer during the typical British winter weather).
But some of our purchases were more for us, such as a portrait photograph of Alice. The people at Mugshot Photography were very patient as I tried to get Alice to stay put, but she was always more interested in exploring their booth than posing for the camera. Eventually though, they got a lovely shot which really captures her cheeky personality.

After the recent heatwave, although the rain pretty much held off, the weather was a lot more overcast and chilly (which is why one of our first purchases was a fleece for Rachel, with a nice pair of paw prints embroidered on it).
It's amazing how quickly we're turning into those people!
