That most British of sci-fi space ship pilots, Dan Dare is coming to audio in December, courtesy of a team-up between B7 Media and Big Finish.
Based on the Eagle comic strip created by The Rev Marcus Morris, adapted and drawn by Frank Hampson, the first volume of audio adventures contains three stories (Voyage to Venus, The Red Moon Mystery, and Marooned on Mercury) and a disc of extras.
This will be followed in February by a second volume containing Reign of the Robots, Operation Saturn, and Prisoners of Space, along with another bonus disc.
The full-cast plays star Ed Stoppard (The Pianist, Brideshead Revisited), as the 'pilot of the future' Colonel Dan Dare; Geoff McGivern (Ford Prefect from the original Hitch Hiker's Guide To The Galaxy) as Digby; Heida Reed (Elizabeth in Poldark) as Professor Jocelyn Peabody; and Raad Rawi (Spy, The Devil's Double) as the Mekon.
The two box sets of adventures can be pre-ordered via Big Finish's website here.

Brilliant test pilot, Dan Dare, is chosen to fly the Anastasia – a new experimental spacecraft – on its maiden voyage to Venus. This isn’t exploration – it is to make first contact with a mysterious civilisation that has sent technological secrets as a goodwill gesture.
