Stirring pleasant memories of Warehouse 13, The Lost Room, and similar urban fantasy shows, The Book of Contemporary Magical Things is a system-agnostic 100-page collection of "modern items imbued with magical resonance for contemporary and urban RPGs".
To be released by Stygian Fox Publishing, it has already surpassed its Kickstarter target, with the fundraising campaign running until May 25.
The campaign's Kickstarter page elaborates on the idea of the book:
"...modern, seemingly mundane, items that are imbued with magical power. Some are quite minor; a tuning fork that will quiet a room, a pair of cuff links that tell you the name and family details of those with whom you shake hands, a set of polyhedral dice that temporarily change the fortune of the roller, but some are spectacular, or dangerously malevolent. From minor items to Earth shattering forces, these items are there for you to use as a Gamesmaster in your modern, horror, or superhero campaigns."As well as investor incentives and details of stretch goals, the book's website - and updates - also feature examples of some of the many items featured in the book.
It is already written, and Stygian Fox has the requisite artwork, they are just looking for funds to pay a layout artist and maybe acquire some additional art.
