Caroline Munro (aka The First Lady Of Fantasy) has been chosen by readers of this blog as the Face Of The First 10 Years Of HeroPress.
She won the recent opinion poll, which closed yesterday, by a wide margin, with 40.98 per cent of the vote in the most hotly contested poll this site has hosted in the last couple of years.
Caroline is, of course, the star of many a great genre movie - from The Golden Voyage Of Sinbad and Captain Kronos - Vampire Hunter to At The Earth's Core and Starcrash - as well as appearing in music videos, on TV, and being a popular pin-up.
She was the only actor ever signed to a long-term contract with Hammer, and is a Trustee of the Ray and Diana Harryhausen Foundation.
As you may know, every month I publish a Geek Pin-Up, celebrating the wonderful ladies of genre film and TV, then at the end of the year I tot up the number of "hits" on those posts and reveal the most popular of the year.
With HeroPress now marking its tenth anniversary, I ran a poll, asking readers to select their favourite from the most popular pin-ups of the last decade.
Here are the results:
For the first week of voting, Caroline and Jane Seymour were neck-and-neck, but in the last seven days there's been a surge of support for the eventual winner.
Votes for everyone else came in as:
- 2nd. Jane Seymour 16.39%
- 3rd. Yvonne Strahovski 11.48%
- 4th. Cobie Smulders 9.84%
- 5th. Jolene Blalock 8.20%
- 6th. Amanda Tapping 6.56%
- 7th. Sybil Danning 3.28%
- 8th = Lindy Booth 1.64%
- 8th = Mädchen Amick 1.64%
- 10th. Skyler Samuels 0%
And now, as we settle back to welcome in the next ten years of HeroPress, I hand you back to the Face Of The First 10 Years of HeroPress: Caroline Munro...
Massive thanks to everyone who helped spread the word about this poll and who voted in this bit of anniversary fun.
Here's to the next ten years!
