There is a method to my madness.
Call them what you will (picture dumps, image avalanches, hump day dreams, picture parades etc), a post that's simply a series of eye-catching images makes a nice change... but is there any deeper thinking behind them?
My personal justification for them - beyond the simple benefit of eye-candy - is their use as a "vision board".
To quote Wikipedia:
A vision board or dream board is a collage of images, pictures and affirmations of one's dreams and desires, designed to serve as a source of inspiration and motivation, and to use the law of attraction to attain goals. The usefulness of vision boards has been endorsed by celebrities such as Jim Carrey, Ellen DeGeneres, Oprah Winfrey and Steve Harvey. While I may not support the more hippy-dippy aspects of this idea, I see it as a useful tool for writers and gamesmasters, almost akin to William Burroughs's cut-up technique (as used by David Bowie, among others).
But with random pictures (comic book covers, TV stills, sci-fi art, pin-ups, odds and ends etc).
