With no prior fanfare, Cloak & Dagger popped up on Amazon Prime on Friday, giving the UK access to the first two episodes and keeping us abreast of the United States.
As long as Amazon continues to pick up shows like this, I won't begrudge them blowing millions on rights to sporting events that don't interest me or keeping the career of Jeremy Clarkson going well past its sell-by date.
Although it's taken some liberties with the characters from the comics (and tied their origins to events in Agent Carter's second season, which is a nice touch), Cloak & Dagger serves up a pair of well-rounded leads in Olivia Holt's Tandy Bowen and Aubrey Joseph's Tyrone Johnson.
She's a former rich kid fallen on hard times since the death of her father, while his family have turned their life around after the murder of his elder brother by a corrupt cop.
Tyrone's a student at an exclusive religious school while Tandy lives on the streets, hustling rich kids with the support of her partner, Liam (Carl Lundstedt).
However, when their paths cross at a party, Tyrone and Tandy discover they are linked by a tragic event in their childhoods that has given them strange abilities.
There's no dithering about getting to the moment where their powers are revealed, but then the story takes a wholly convincing turn with the two - separately - trying to figure out what this means to their lives.
This show isn't going to give up its secretes too easily, but it's teased us enough to know there's fascinating times ahead.
As well as its pair of interesting protagonists, Cloak & Dagger is also gifted with a great supporting cast of characters.
It's when you see this, and Runaways, it really brings home what a screw-up, and missed opportunity, Inhumans was.
There's already murmurings of a possible, future, crossover between Runaways and Cloak & Dagger, but let's give this show time to find its own identity, as Runaways has done so brilliantly in its first season.
And there's every possibility that that's just fan-generated over-excitement anyway, and it will come to nowt.
The next episode of Cloak & Dagger drops on Amazon Prime on Friday morning.
