On the run in the year 1987, Bumblebee finds refuge in a junkyard in a small Californian beach town. That trailer does nothing for me, I'm afraid. But then again, as I've said before, the whole Transformers deal passed me by so I have no emotional or nostalgic investment in the franchise anyway.
Charlie (Hailee Steinfeld), on the cusp of turning 18 and trying to find her place in the world, discovers Bumblebee, battle-scarred and broken.
When Charlie revives him, she quickly learns this is no ordinary, yellow VW bug.
And both the trailer and the plot synopsis are really weak.
To me, this sounds like a Herbie movie, but with more violence.
I was pretty sure after the last Transformers movie, the franchise was dead in the water anyway, so was rather surprised that this got made in the first place.
Perhaps it will prove me wrong, but I can't see this being the big Christmas movie of the year (of course, I want that honour to go to Mortal Engines!)
