As you may be aware, although today is Rachel's actual 40th birthday, the celebrations began last weekend with her meticulously-planned polka dot-themed birthday party at the venue where we got married 12 years ago.
And with that theme, who else could have provided the live entertainment but The Polka Dots (pictured above with Rachel)?
Eighteen months in the planning, the party not only featured a performance by this magnificent group, but their set then sequed into a disco that rocked out until midnight.
Rachel, her parents, and I were joined by about 70 people, including Rachel's work colleagues, university and school friends, and even the members of The Tuesday Knights!

On Sunday, about 20 people (most who'd been to the party the night before) came round to ours for a small 'garden party'.
