Looks like the end of HeroPress is coming sooner than I hoped.
According to Blogger's "helpful" introduction to their new interface, the "legacy interface" won't be an option come the end of July.
The new interface is ugly, awkward, slow, and clumsy.
This simple post was written using it and it has taken me considerably longer than it would have with the old interface.
Even simple things like adding "tags" to a post are now a nightmare...
And it seems you can't simply add a film clip any longer, but instead have to go and track it down from YouTube via the new "add film" widget.
Every little element of composing a post is now ridiculously over-complicated.
Got to admit, I was trying to remain sanguine (I've considered stopping blogging of my own volition a number of times over the years), but actually I'm really pissed off at Blogger.
As I said before, I've got a variety of picture posts scheduled to last for months, but actual writing works could well fade from my feed.
It won't be such an issue with whatever gaming campaign blog site I finally settle on as they tend to be more "write-and-publish", but HeroPress was always about the features that I could load into a queue, to ensure the blog would continue even I wasn't feeling up to it.
But to have the carpet pulled from under my feet like this fucks me off.
I've put 13 years of my life in HeroPress and it has helped me keep a handle on some of the mental health issues that came as an added bonus with my aneurysm and stroke.
I honestly don't know what I'll do without blogging.
It's always felt like a unifying purpose for my sundry hobbies, and an outlet for my limited creativity.
God, I might end up writing a novel...
[NB. having originally created this post in the "new interface", once it went live I switched back to the "legacy interface" and smartened it up!]
