With the departure of Ruby Rose from the lead role in Batwoman, Warner Bros and The CW have brought in Javicia Leslie to take up the cowl for season two.
Prior to this, Javicia was best known for her role as Ali Finer in the two-season CBS comedy series God Friended Me.
Given her training in Muay Thai, boxing, and dance, Javicia is clearly not going to have an issue with the physicality of the role as Gotham's new protector.
She will be playing a new character, Ryan Wilder, a street-smart survivor living out of a van when we first meet her and said to be nothing like Kate Kane (Ruby Rose's character).
The disappearance of Kate Kane will be one of the mysteries of season two, so, I guess, there's a chance that Ruby will return at some point for a cameo, at least.
Let's hope that with a fresh face in the lead, the writers are inspired to come up with some more engaging stories as the first season of Batwoman was a hard slog to get through.
The second season of Batwoman is expected to appear in January.
