In other words: "stay on target".
While many people will look back on 2020 and hope that 2021 will be a "do over", I'm hoping for a "do better".
So, as per this time last year, in lieu of a long screed on "New Year's Resolutions", I have opted simply to draft a short list of "aspirations".
BE MORE POSITIVE: Try not to dwell on the depressing global (and local) news quite so much, strive harder to avoid negativity, cut out toxic people from my social media feeds etc
HEALTH: As a hikikomori padawan, I rather co-opted the idea of the Coronanvirus-enforced lockdown and social distancing as an excuse to not leave the house and not do any exercise last year... and that has to change in 2021.
As reluctant as I am to do anything particularly strenuous, the extreme laziness has taken its toll and my body feels like crap these days. On a New Year's Eve Zoom call with friends, when I was seated on our sofa, I realised that I was the spitting image of Homer Simpson sans jaundiced skin. That has to change.
FINANCES: Need to take my dwindling finances more seriously and stop with the "I'll just add one more thing to my Amazon basket, it won't make much of a difference".
I'm pretty certain I've drawn a line under backing random Kickstarters (especially games I'll never play and gorgeous miniatures which I then have to pay to get painted), instead switching my attention to the more economical idea of Patreon. Psychologically I still feel as though I'm "giving something back" to my hobby... it's just not costing an arm and a leg.
GAMING: I'm definitely circling the wagons when it comes to roleplaying games. I shall be making no new purchases - except under the most extreme of justifications - with my creativity (if you can call it that) focussed purely on with my beloved Frankengame, an old school fantasy RPG that grew out of my continual hacking of the superb First Edition of Crypts & Things.
I also want to get more "into" miniatures gaming, following the arrival in my life of Star Wars: Legion and The X-Wing Miniatures game (thank you, Santa). This way I can actually get some use out of my games table and get back into my side-hobby of scratch building terrain.
COMICS: (See Finances) Endeavour to continue whittling down my pull-list to a hardcore of titles I can't do without in my life.
