The short HeroPress "Definitive Joker" poll has closed, the votes tallied, and the final verdict is that both Mark Hamill's Joker from the beloved Batman: The Animated Series and The Joker depicted in Alan Moore's Killing Joke graphic novel are your favourites.
Both netted around 28.6 per cent of votes, ahead of Cesar Romero from Adam West's 1966 Batman TV series, with 21.4 per cent, Heath Ledger's performance in The Dark Knight, with 14.3 per cent, and the original 1940's comic book Joker with 7.1 per cent.
However, this was also a test of Survey Monkey's new policy of not allowing 'free' polls to be embedded in blogs any more.
It's been a long while since I ran a public opinion poll on HeroPress, so this policy change caught me unawares.
I fear, given the response rate to this survey, that requiring people to "click through" to a poll, rather than being able to access it right there in the blog post, could spell the end for such things on HeroPress, at least until I can find a reliable replacement widget service.
Although the article about the Definitive Joker poll was the most read article of the week on HeroPress, less than one in ten of those who looked at it actually took part in the poll, which was a disappointingly low 'conversion rate'.
If you are unsure of where the link leads, hover your cursor over it before clicking and you should get an indication of the destination.
Quick PSA on this point: if the link is to a "HeroPress.net" site, don't click it! These date back to an era where I owned that site, which I no longer do and I cannot vouch for what you will find there. I've been trying to spot all those links and either amend them to the correct blog address or kill them off completely.
