|My official sponsored walk participant's T-shirt...|
As most of you are probably aware by now Rachel and I are taking part in an "all-abilities" sponsored walk to raise funds for The Stroke Association at the end of this month.
A JustGiving page has been set up to collect donations, and thanks to continuing generous donations, we broke through the initial £250 target in a week and yesterday rocketed past my second goal of £500. I've now - optimistically - increased the target to £750 with the I hope that we'll be able to hit that by the time I start the walk.
Despite Rachel and I both coming down with stinking colds (Rachel's is on the way out, but mine just seems to taking hold), the training walks have continued.
I've just discovered that the course we shall be walking at Penshurst Place is about a third of a mile long, so I'm aiming to complete at least three laps and then see how I feel about doing any more. The good thing is, of course, with such a short course, should I feel a bit unsteady or wobbly on any lap I'll never be that far from the starting line.
Our official participant packs - including our matching Step Out For Stroke t-shirts (pictured above) - arrived in the mail the other day, so this thing is starting to feel very real.
I am truly amazed by how much we've raised already, but I shall keep plugging away until the starting whistle blows on the walk.
