I thought it might be interesting, and possibly useful, to summarise the current regular - and semi-regular - features running on HeroPress, should you ever feel inclined to take a wander through the archives.
Click any of the titles below to peruse the relevant posts or a page listing links to said posts.
Six Of The Best: My fortnightly interview slot where I talk to different bloggers from the whole spectrum of blogging (from horology to horror, gaming to writing) about their work, best practice etc as a means of promoting the simple brilliance of blogging and to counter the ever-present "blogging is dying out" brigade.
Torn from The Headlines: Inspired by +Craig Oxbrow's regular postings of useful links, combined with my life-long passion for bizarre and outré news stories, these items are (usually) real-world news items that I think could be used as plot hooks by gamesmasters.
(Sunday) Chin Scratcher: Questions, usually for the gaming hive-mind, on subjects I've been ruminating on. Almost always related to roleplaying games.
Opinion Poll: Usually a question on a pressing pop culture matter (such as my recent "Who Was The Best Live-Action Superman" in the wake of Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice). I love running opinion polls as they are so interactive. But I don't post them too often because for the fortnight I do run one I promote it really heavily (reposts, Twitter, Facebook et al) and I'm wary of over-saturation.
Musical Monday: Kick off the week with a tune, such as David Bowie's I Can't Give Everything Away (below).
Map-A-Monday: A mixture of historical and, more commonly, fantasy maps from movies, books, TV, comics etc
Throwback Thursday: Jumping on a popular Internet bandwagon, this is my (almost) weekly dip into the past. Often connected with my geeky hobbies, sometimes revisiting old holidays or excursions, sometimes relating to my personal history.
Fleamarket Friday: Simply put these are short 'news' pieces about things you can spend your hard-earned cash on or Kickstarters you can support. I have no connection with any of the items I mention, they are purely things that catch my eye. If you want to see which Kickstarters I'm throwing my own money on there's often a "HeroPress Supports" panel on the left-hand side of the blog (if I'm currently backing anything).
Retro Comic Book Cover Gallery: A weekly gallery of six eye-catching, sometimes humorous, sometimes bizarre, old comic book covers (sometimes they're not even that old, but generally I find older comic book covers more interesting than many of today's offerings).
Saturday Morning Matinee: Start the weekend with a film. Sometimes a short, sometimes feature length, often these are fan films or even - very occasionally - just something weird I found online.
Sunday Funnies: A weekly joke, sometimes a live-action skit, but usually a single panel (or short comic strip) slice of humour.
Geek Pin-Up/Wonder Woman Wednesday/Supergirl Sunday/Slave Leia Sunday: Pure clickbait and eye-candy, although sometimes pertinent to a film or TV show that's about (or just started) to air.
|Wonder Woman Wednesday bonus...|
I also review every episode of Supernatural (once it's been shown in the UK - season 11 is due to start here next week), Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Agent Carter, and the Netflix/Marvel shows: two seasons of Daredevil and one of Jessica Jones so far.
And don't forget, as well as all the other links and feeds in the columns on either side of the blog, up in the top right-hand corner is the "Featured Post", a new feature that Blogger is offering, where you can promote a particular post that you think is of interest (I usually plump for the most recent Six Of The Best interview).
