|New TARDIS Team: Mandip Gill, Bradley Walsh, Jodie Whittaker, and Tosin Cole|
The 13th Doctor's new companions have been unveiled.
Joining Jodie Whittaker's Doctor in the TARDIS will be Bradley Walsh (as Graham), Tosin Cole (as Ryan) and Mandip Gill (as Yasmin).
I'm liking this potentially busy TARDIS ensemble. Not that it's a particularly new concept; in the new era Matt Smith had The Ponds and David Tennant's Doctor had multiple companions, but it also hearkens back to the show's Classic era, with several Doctors travelling with multiple companions.
Bradley Walsh immediately makes me think of an Ian Chesterton-style character, which would take the show right back to its roots (fitting as the Christmas special - that introduces the 13th Doctor - also includes a turn from David Bradley as the First Doctor).
While I've grown to eventually appreciate Peter Capaldi's 12th Doctor in his final season - boosted by the presence of the brilliant, but doomed, Bill Potts - I must confess I haven't been as excited about Doctor Who as I am for the arrival of the 13th Doctor for a very long time.
It's also been revealed that the new season of Doctor Who, to air in the autumn of 2018, will commence with an hour-long episode and the series will run for 10 weeks of 50-minute episodes, under new showrunner Chris Chibnall.
