Rachel caught the train to work, which meant walking up the hill from Tunbridge Wells station to her office |
No matter how 'prepared' we are for the rare snowfalls that we have these days in the South-East of England, the sight of the first flake always manages to send us into a state of total panic (
combined, in some cases, with total elation).
The so-called
'Beast From The East' arrived last night and is supposed to be staying with us for the rest of the week, with more heavy snowfalls due later on.
I'll confess, except for trips into the garden, I haven't really ventured out - as much as I love, and welcome, the snow.
I haven't been feeling too well these last few days and one of the last times we had a heavy snowfall, and I went out 'exploring', I ended up passing out in the street (
the cold made my already medically-low blood pressure plummet) and being taken to hospital!
So, sadly, I've been enjoying the chocolate box imagery from the warmth of our home.
Rachel, however, still went to work. But instead of driving took the train, which then meant a walk up from Tunbridge Wells station, through the town, to her office.
This was also Alice's first exposure to snow of any depth and she wasn't a fan. Not only was it cold on her paws, but she didn't like the sensation of sinking in to it almost up to her belly.
She didn't stay out in the garden any longer than she had to (
while I was feeding Barney, making sure his water was unfrozen, and that his hutch was as warm as we could make it).
Alice then raced back inside and made herself a pillow fort in our bedroom!
