Funded in three hours, Off the Beaten Path, City Excursions is a short Kickstarter to fund production of a print-on-demand booklet of mini-adventures.
As someone who strung together an entire campaign largely around the one-page adventures put out by Tim Shorts (of Gothridge Manor), I love the idea of this collection and can see great utility in it for my own future gaming.
Thom Wilson's book will be rammed with one and two-page city-based adventures (different editions will be either system neutral or statted for Swords & Wizardry).
He explains on fundraiser's Kickstarter page that the book will feature:
"A minimum of twenty single- or double-page city excursions to use as side quests or stand-alone adventures for your Fantasy RPG.To learn more about the project, pledge levels and rewards, the print-on-demand process, stretch goals, example pages, the origins of the book etc check out the Kickstarter page.
There are over twenty-five pages of encounters to be found within cities and towns.
As your players' characters travel through large settlements, they will come across gangs, sewer creatures, evil warlords, basement baddies, and more!
These adventures are a great way to add additional encounters during travel or to handle an unexpected change in direction!"
But be quick, the campaign ends on July 19.
