What does it mean to die, and is death the end of our existence? Weaving together innovative new research with firsthand accounts from those who’ve been close to—and even experienced—death, this series takes viewers on an extraordinary journey into a world beyond human existence as we know it.As someone still traumatised and haunted by his own near-death experience, who dwells (probably an unhealthy amount) on his own mortality, I shall definitely be checking out this new six-part Netflix docu-series - Surviving Death - that drops tomorrow (Wednesday).
I have a low tolerance for people who claim to be "mediums" or otherwise able to contact the dead, dismissing them either as deluded, naïve, or - worse of all - callous con-artists.
However, as the trailer says and as Carl Sagan said, "extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence", so let's see what this has to offer by way of elusive evidence.
To be honest, I'd rather hope that if someone had found undeniable proof of life-after-death (or just "what happens next") it might have registered on the global news cycle... instead of being hidden away in a Netflix serial.
Who knows, if nothing else, there may be some ideas that I can filter over into my fantasy roleplaying game campaign.
