Although articles continue to pop up on HeroPress (primarily film trailers and eye-candy, with a smattering of news), I'm still technically on a hiatus... I just can't leave the site alone!
Unfortunately, compounding my current state of mental and physical discombobulation, is a development with my eyes.
Having gone to the opticians the other week, I now have a new - even stronger - varifocal prescription in a new set of frames.
But my eyes are taking forever to align themselves with the new strength lenses, meaning for close-up vision my eyesight is even blurrier than it used to be.
I can't even read comics at the moment, let alone novels, and I struggle with my phone!
To even be able to use my computer - and write this, for instance - I have had to adjust the magnification setting on my screen so that everything is blown up to giant size (125 per cent) like I'm Mr Magoo.
Rachel assures me that the last time I had a new prescription it took me some time for my eyes to adjust to those glasses, so I'm hoping this situation will rectify itself soon.
In the meantime, it means an almost constant wash of headaches and seasickness as my eyes do battle with their new reality.
When it comes to thinking about HeroPress itself, while I've started planning for the October Horror Movie Challenge, I'm still questioning whether - after almost 15 years at the coalface - blogging is even where my future lies.
The more choices there are available the more fractured fandoms and communities become as groups peel off to form their own niche huddles.
Even though these last few weeks have seen me hardly posting anything substantive (and I've gone days without posting anything, on occasion), HeroPress has still averaged well over 1,000 hits-a-day, often on the same collection of old posts.
Of course, a hit is a hit - and I'll take it - but that's purely an ego boost.
Between the bots and spam posters, I'm unable to gauge the true breadth of my readership beyond a handful of highly-appreciated loyal stalwarts.
As it stands, going into September, I suspect these doldrums will continue as various factors continue to rattle around inconclusively inside my empty noggin.
Hopefully, the fog will lift by the time we hit the start of the October Horror Movie Challenge!
