|Jeremy Hawkins R.I.P.|
Long-time friend - and supporter - of HeroPress, music producer, author, and artist extraordinaire Jeremy Hawkins died earlier this week, claimed by COVID-19.
Although we'd been online friends for much longer, this incredibly talented graphic designer was responsible for HeroPress's striking anniversary posters for last seven years.
He even designed the gorgeous, suitably heroic, HeroPress logo that has graced this site since it moved to its current URL almost eight years ago.
Jeremy would never take payment for any of this work, even though it was offered every time, instead simply asking that I continue to promote his work on HeroPress, which I was more than willing to do.
A unique personality with a singular, charmingly eccentric, sense of humour, multi-talented Jeremy was a producer at Howlin' Wolf Records, which specialised in high-end, limited edition pressings of film and TV scores.
He ran the online magazine Six Strings for them, reviewing films, books, shows etc, while his art and thoughts on life could be found on his blog, Being Retro.
Back in 2013, he was even a guest writer on HeroPress, with his article - as part of a promotional 'blog tour' - about interviewing Adam West for cable access TV.
HeroPress - and the Internet as a whole - will be a bit quieter and duller in Jeremy's absence.
I will miss our chats.
Here's a selection of the anniversary posters Jeremy produced for me over the years:
