Released last month by Rebellion, Black Beth: Vengeance Be Thy Name collects all the comic book tales so far written about this brutal sword maiden.
Debuting in a 1980's Scream! holiday special, the character was recently revived by the publisher with a new scriptwriter - Judge Dredd scribe Alec Worley - and artist, DaNi.
In a new interview on the 2000AD/Rebellion website, Alec said:
"I would drop anything to keep writing Beth and vanish off into her world for a bit. Reading comics like Jason Aaron’s Conan and Garth Ennis’s Hawk the Slayer makes me realise just how much I adore this genre!"
So let's make this happen!
Come on, Rebellion, how about a Black Beth and Hawk The Slayer crossover for starters as you own both those properties?
If Garth Ennis is done writing Hawk, then let Alec Worley play in that sandbox, and get both DaNi and Henry Flint providing art for on-going Hawk and Beth comic book titles.
Pat Mills says he's wrapped up his Sláine epic, so 2000AD needs a new swords-and-sorcery element, and you have two ready made 'replacements' on the starting blocks.
The ball is in your court, Rebellion. Let's kickstart this new age of British swords-and-sorcery...
