This QR code opens a magic portal to my old school roleplaying game group, I'd Rather Be Killing Monsters, on Facebook.
It's a private group - so you have to apply for "membership" - but once inside, you'll find we're a welcoming, friendly, community - now with over 400 members - that encourages the sharing of interesting gaming material and good natured discussion.
For instance, at the moment, we're having a lot of fun with several people participating in the #RPGaDay challenge.
But we're always on the lookout for more potential members who are willing to embrace the basic concept of positivity in their approach to the hobby.
This isn't to say we can't be critical of things, but constructive criticism is always preferred (whereas real world politics, religion etc is a no-no... as it is in most groups that aren't specifically established to tackle those hot button topics).
The QR code was created by one of my fellow group administrators, Timothy S Brannan, author of Night Shift, witch supremo, and contributor to the Buffy The Vampire Slayer RPG.
Other administrators in the group include prodigious games writer Justin 'Pun' Isaac, of the Halls of The Nephilim blog, and Simon Barns, a fellow Tuesday Knight who also runs the Dragon Warriors RPG small press publishing house Red Ruin.
That's some serious bona fides there, which should give you an idea of the quality of material we share in I'd Rather Be Killing Monsters.
But it isn't all murderhobos all the time, we stretch the definition of "killing" to "overcoming" and have been known to embrace sci-fi games as diverse as Traveller and the various iterations of the Doctor Who RPG, as well.
However, our primary goal remains helping people make their old school, tunnel-grubbing, dungeoncrawling adventures as fun as possible.
Doesn't that sound like a community you'd like to join?
