The New Punverse Acrobatic Flea, drawn by David Copoletti |
A fresh iteration of my signature superhero character, The Acrobatic Flea, has sprung into being, courtesy of my great friend Justin 'Pun' Isaac of the Halls of the Nephilim blog.
Designed for Justin's own New Punverse setting, using a 5e superhero rules system, and complemented by incredible artwork from David Copoletti, Pun's alternate take on the Flea is rather spectacular.
I really love how, from the get-go, the Flea has an ally in scientist Tim Ritter, who supplies him with his "superhero gadgets and gear".
I picture Ritter (who, in my mind, resembles the scientist Norman Tuttle, from Street Hawk) coming with the Flea as the superhero relocates from place to place, constantly working on improving and updating the Flea's equipment.
Or, plot twist, maybe the two have a falling out and Ritter becomes a supervillain, a built-in nemesis to the Flea. Or is that too corny?
Pun's take on the Flea makes him one of the most successful and established iterations across the multiverse since my original Villains & Vigilantes character from the early '80s, which is a nice change of pace and helps mix things up across the infinite alternate dimensions.
His storied history means this Flea is older (although not necessarily any wiser) than many of his multiversal peers, has connections and friendships with established heroes and teams, and is a mentor to the next generation.
I wonder which of his alternates he would get on with best in the inevitable Flea-centric Crisis on Infinite Earths-style RPG crossover event?
So freaking cool.
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy with all the Flea goodness that has been sent to me in recent weeks :)
