Ten most read articles on HeroPress in January, 2023 |
I reckon HeroPress has bounced back from its existential crisis at the end of last year rather well.
Just look at the purity of the most popular articles published on the site (see above), they're all either gaming-related or to do with Tintin.
My Tintin Project seems to be ticking along nicely. It would be easy to blast through the 24 volumes of Hergé's Adventures of Tintin, so I'm delighted that my willpower is holding out (after one month!) to reviewing a couple of books every month.
If all continues to go according to plan that means this month will see me cover Tintin in America and Cigars of The Pharaohs. Hopefully, I might be able to track down some more documentaries about Hergé and his most famous creation as well.
I posted 93 articles last month, which I'm happy with, sticking, largely, to my "three posts a day" target.
I'll confess that the actual hits on individual stories on the site are not what they used to be, but then I always had the unavoidable suspicion that a lot of the so-called hits on the site were just bots anyway.
The lifeblood of HeroPress always has been - and always will be - comments from actual human beings, be they here or on Facebook, where everything gets shared (that's the closest I ever come to actively promoting HeroPress).
I gather that Blogger is doing something technical behind-the-scenes to rejig its analytics later this year, which I don't understand, but, honestly, it doesn't bother me too much as long as they leave me alone to carry on doing what I'm doing. I'm never going to monetise this site anyway - it's purely for the shits and giggles.
This year has started surprisingly strong and I hope this will incentivise me to continue with what I'm doing, and also encourage me to expand back into the world of roleplaying games (once I've finally, finally, settled on a setting, system, and genre).
Nice one Knight. Here's to the rest of the year!
