|Variant cover art for Predator #1 by Rahzzah|
Speaking in his official newsletter, reported via the excellent Alien Vs Predator AVP Galaxy website, Brisson assures fans of the franchise that the title:
"...has not been cancelled. It was just pushed back to later in the year. We’re all hard at work on the book — I’m currently working on the script to issue #5 and Kev Walker is well into art on #3."Originally scheduled for release this month, when it was first announced earlier in the year with a host of variant covers, Marvel then cancelled all pre-orders a few weeks later, around the same time that the Predator franchise was dragged into a legal ownership dispute between the original creators and 20th Century Fox.
The Predator IP fell into Marvel's lap, along with Alien, a year ago, following Disney's acquisition of Fox.
Marvel is currently up to issue four of its new Alien comic, with a 35th anniversary sequel to James Cameron's Aliens blockbuster - Aliens: Aftermath - due to hit stands on July 14.
While I couldn't see it happening with the xenomorphs, I'm still hoping - eventually - to see some kind of canon crossover between the Yautja of Predator and Marvel's main superhero comic book universe.
But let's get a straight sci-fi Predator comic out first, right?
